Your kids don’t go to school? How will they learn? (a tongue-in-cheek post)

Well, let’s see…

Between the day of their birth and age 5 my kids learned how to do the following:

talk (yes, they acquired an entire language without having one previously), walk, grasp and manipulate objects, count, identify all letters of the alphabet, use playground equipment, construct an argument, put on their shoes, create and execute a storyline, draw and paint, add and subtract simple numbers, interact with children and adults, measure ingredients, divide a pizza into equal parts, feed a campfire, read a book

They did all these things and more WITHOUT taking classes, without a teacher, without a curriculum, without homework or standardized tests. They did it by living their lives, watching others around them, asking questions, and trying things out for themselves.

Why mess with success?
